This was also a test like in the Solomon situation with the baby. He told 2 women that he will cut the baby in half.
HE was not going to intentionally, but being as wise as Solomon was, he figured "the real mother would want her baby"
and the baby's real mother took the baby before it would happen.
Also, there are later additions to the bible because text had been lost. G told people to right text down from him, not ancient text. God knew that some text was lost and wanted to give all the lost information with the old to us in one piece
Jesus taught the woman a lesson. It was probably to make the woman not sin again. He knew they were not going to stone her and proved that the people still loved and he gave her a second chance. Solomon, i believe, had a son who messed up and gave another chance. Same thing is shown here
I would except that from what I understand, the additions were sort of added in parallel. So, the versions that some Greek Christians might have been using for hundreds of years didn't have an addition that was standard in some Egyptian version for all that time. And in the end, let's say, the Egyptian version became canon…
Put another way, I would love to add that info, but the level of detail that I would have to go into is beyond the scope of the point that I'm trying to make. If people are interested, the subject is fascinating and there are many books on the subject matter. Ehrman is well worth reading.
an atheist is not going to convince a xtian that their book is flawed,to me the bible has way to many unethical sayings and doings.
murder, slavery, rape, etc, etc.but to see this discrepancies one has to be honest with oneself.that famous saying,"let he who is without sin cast the first stone",is just not very bright, everyone is a sinner, according to "god",what's the first thing when someone is accused of wrongdoing, their response,is always oh and you are perfect, you never did nothing wrong, just not a very good saying, sounds like this jesus dude wasn't the brightest crayola in the box.one more thing, this devil that causes all this havoc here on earth,he deceived "eve and adam"in that order,i wonder if he had anything to do do
with dictating the"BIBLE"sure sounds like something he would do,cause seems like an all loving god is just the opposite of what the bible prescribes!just a thought."BUYER BEWARE"!

*Look at it in another perspective
Would you consider adding the your list of biblical additions the approximate dates of those additions?
