I just thought of this line of discourse this evening so perhaps the opppurtunity will present itself at a later date. I did have a similiar conversatio awhile back that went something like this:____"I'm personally troubled by the fact that there is no way to resolve personal and social contradictions...we're all doomed to be hypocrites." I then explained how personal philosphies like, "Love they nieghbor" are incompatible with a social ones "fight for your country". Yet we all have personal and social convictions of right/wrong firmly entrenched in our mind. "Would you vote for someone that had the power to stop mass murder and suffering but did nothing about it?" or "If a father lets his kids do anything they want, whenever they want, is he a good parent?" The obvious answer is "no". If they answer 'yes' then there's no point in having a conversation about morals with some that has none. I think I'd then keep on the topic and not slip into issue with god until quite later. "ok, help me understand, I know some people that practically worship they guy and he does nothing to deserve it! What is going on!" At that point they will join the bandwagon in support of your outrage.
